You can submit your writing and/or art at any time, but we’ve extended our deadline this year until December 18 to allow students to finish up the coursework before submitting, if needed.

Ivy Tech Bloomington English faculty have made their nominations, and applications went out on November 7. If you received an application and want to apply, ensure your completed application is submitted by noon on Friday, November 18 to be considered for the editor scholarship.

Once applications are reviewed by the English Department (and interviews carried out if necessary), the editors’ names will be announced.

Root and Branch received a second place award in the 2018 CCHA Literary Magazine Competition (Central Region, Large Colleges division).

Two of our students also earned awards:

Rachel Batka won 2nd Place for her photo “Equilibrium” (Photography, Central Region)

Salem Naylor won 3rd Place for her cover art “Silent Duel” (Artwork, Central Region)

Three of our students have been awarded four certificates in the Community College Humanities Association 2017 Literary Magazine Competition for their work that was published in Mé Tis, vol. X:

Brynn Parkinson: 1^st Place Best Script Central Region for “Chatterbox Bus Stop”

Nikolas Maden: 2^nd Place Poems Central Region for “Tempest” and 3^rd Place Best Photography Central Region for “Gatherings”

Kenneth Fahr: 3^rd Place Creative Nonfiction Central Region for “First Contact”
